Socia at 20

Back in 2002, David and Alex could see the world becoming more interconnected, and that the leaders who were going to thrive in these conditions were those who could collaborate most effectively. Reflecting on the nature of effective collaboration resulted in the creation of Socia and in our book Collaborative Leadership: Building Relationships, Handling Conflict and Sharing Control.

Our clients across the public, private and charity sectors have become our partners over the past 20+ years, at a time when collaboration has become the essential leadership capability to enable business to thrive in the 21st century.

Collaboration in the boardroom now dominates Socia’s work. Successful Boards are those that can demonstrate strong collaborative capabilities with stakeholders, but also between executives and non-executives and trustees.

A 20-year opportunity for celebration and reflection

At Socia we felt that our 20-year anniversary in 2022 marked a great opportunity to celebrate with our loyal clients who have worked with us, to share experiences, and note our collective achievements.

But Socia is always about moving forward. Throughout our 20th year we explored the future of collaboration in business and particularly in the boardroom. Our first publication on this topic was on Post Pandemic Collaboration our second, Collaboration then and now reflected on the changes we have seen in attitudes towards collaboration over the last 20 years. Our third Collaboration in resource constrained times considered how the case for a collaborative leadership mindset needs to be regularly  re-made to keep it relevant for the future.
